Day 1 - Shift

So it's the first day of shift. Although no competition it's given us the opportunity to really get to grips with the venue and how we will work. Plus get to meet all our colleagues - a couple who I had met at the various preliminary training

It's been a busy day. First stop was getting to the Superstore at George Square before 8am. That was the time that the (very) limited edition Opening Ceremony badge went on sale. It is supposedly limited to just 2014, each individually numbered. I had preordered and so got more than one. There did not seem to be any rationing by sales staff
Then it was off to check in for the first shift. There has been a (bit of a) mix up about meal vouchers but some serious complaining got that sorted
We got our first goodies today - a Glasgow wrist band and a limited edition towel. Given it is pretty hot in the venue, might come in handy

So here is what you have been waiting for - the menu of the day
There was some deviation from the four items only rule - you could have two flapjacks instead of one Nutrigrain bar!
First impression is that it is not a match on 2012 offerings, but as it is blisteringly warm here today, a choice of salad or sandwich was OK.  Let's see how it pans out over the next few days
Glasgow is really getting a buzz about it. The BBC Breakfast studio is just beside the hotel and I assume that is where they will be broadcasting the various links during programming
So tonight it is the Opening Ceremony at Celtic Park. Talking to some colleagues who went to the dress rehearsals they say we are in for a treat. More on that later
Finally a few more pictures of some of the venues
